Update With Class Action Lawsuit For Residential School Survivors

Trials of Residential school class action pauses for talks in surprise developments.

Parties involved in the Labrador Residential Schools Class Action intend to enter into settlement talks following today’s application for a thirty day adjournment of trial.

Justice Robert Stack of the Supreme Court of Newfoundland and Labrador granted the application for the adjournment.

The parties have agreed not to comment publicly while talks take place.

St. John’s law firm Ches Crosbie Barristers is representing survivors along with Edmonton law firm Ahlstrom Wright Oliver & Cooper LLP and Toronto law firm Koskie Minsky.

Trial recommences on February 29.
