The Quirky Quilters of Voisey’s Bay will be holding a Sweetheart Appreciation Draw on February 17, 2016.
Sophie Ford is the Aboriginal Affairs Supervisor for Vale.
She says you can get a ticket from any member of Nain CARE with a $5 donation.
Kathy Ford, Sarah Webb, Joan Dicker, and Nancy Winters, and probably a few others as well are selling the tickets.
Tickets are also available from the Quirky Quilters at the Voisey’s Bay site.
Ford says the big draw every year is a quilt made by Sandra McSweeney.
This year McSweeney donated another quilt, and they also have a 9 foot by 9 foot Labrador tent made by Shirl Bessey and Lynn Baikie.
This is the third year they have made a tent.
Bill McNeil is in the process of building a Kamotik; he built one last year for the draw.
There are numerous other quilted items that Sandra McSweeney donated, and the Quirky Quilters made some moccasins and another quilt, along with some hats and mitts.
Simon Kohlmeister from Nain donated a drum, Frank Pottle donated some snowshoes, Bill Andersen donated an antler carving, Provincial Airlines donated a return trip for one, and Toromont CAT donated some hats and mitts and some other items from their company; plus there’s lots of other prizes.
