Coastal Food Banks

The Food Banks are open along the North coast of Labrador.

The OK Society contacted the Inuit Community Government’s to see what they have to offer.

In Postville, the food bank is located at the town office.

They accept non-perishable food and food that fit onto the shelves.

If anyone that is not able to drop off the donation, you can call Shirley Goudie.

The Food Bank in Hopedale is located at the Hopedale Inuit Community Government office and is accepting any food.

If you can’t drop off the food, you can call the council office at 933-3864.

In Nain, the TaKuaKautik is also located at the town office.

They accept turkeys or geese, monetary donations, and toys for their Christmas Toy Drive.

To make a request for orders, you can fill a form with your name in the blue boxes at the Nunatsiavut Government office, clinic, the Family Connections Staff, or the Post Office here in Nain.

The Community of Makkovik doesn’t have a food bank but is doing a Food Hamper this year.

In Rigolet, they have their food bank is also at the ICG town office.

They accept donations of mostly non-perishable foods.

They are open once a week every Thursdays from 1-3pm, and if you cannot drop off the item, you can call Inez Shiwak at home or at the office.
