The Torngat Fish Producers Co-operative Society office in Nain completed Char and Scallop fishery last Friday on August 28, 2020.
Deidre Kolmeister is the Office Supervisor at the Nain Fish Plant.
She says they landed 40,633 pounds of green scallops and 1,596 meats.
This year they landed 33,458 pounds of Char.
The Nain Fish plant is selling Scallops and Smoked Char.
2 lbs packs of Scallops cost $32 and $14.75 for smoke fish per lb.
She says what they have left in the freezers is what they have left for sale.
Kolmeister says the plant will be finishing up their last 2 weeks at the plant.
During the last few weeks they will be smoking fish for the head office in Goose bay, then the last week they will be doing the clean up.
And here is an update from the Makkovik Fish Plant.
We spoke with Angel Chaulk who is the Office Assistant in the plant.
She says there are 5 Turbot boats; and 31 employee’s working; there are 2 night shift workers working in the evenings.
To date 108,464 lbs of turbot has been landed.
Chaulk says there will be 3 turbot boats to unload today with plentiful turbot.
And production is going well.
