MUN Cost Cuts

Memorial University calls the provincial budget a challenging one for them, with a cut of over $13 million in its operating grant from the province.

President Vianne Timmons says the past 6 years have been difficult. She says they have cut positions as they continue to review operations. She cites a recent review which shows MUN’s administration costs are less than the national average.

They’ve had budget cuts of over $40 million the last 6 years and lost 600 positions when enrollment is up.
