The Community Transportation Program provides funding to incorporated municipalities, not for profit groups and Indigenous Governments and communities to develop, implement and evaluate accessible and inclusive community – based transportation projects.
Projects under the program on helping to enhance and expand community transportation services for people who experience barriers to transportation, including age, ability and geography often in combination with low income.
The Honorable, John G. Abbott, Minister of Children, Seniors and Social Development and Minister Responsible to the NL Housing Corportion announced the recipients yesterday.
Minister Abbott was joined by the Honorable Lisa Dempster, Minister Responsible for Indigenous Affairs and Reconciliation and Minister Responsible Labrador Affairs, as well as his Worship George Andrews, Mayor of Ha[[y Valley- Goose Bay.
“I am happy to be here in HV-GB to announce the recipients of NL Community Transportation Program. The Town Council, with the purchase of a minibus, will allow access for an accessible, affordable and environmentally friendly transportation option that will benefit all residents of the area.”
All of the grant recipients this year are great outcomes of the people in the province.”
