Nomination of Candidates for the By-Election of 1 community member of the community government for the unexpired term of office.
Nominations of candidates for by-election of 1 community member of the community government for the municipality of Postville will be received between the hours of 9am and 4pm on Thursday, February 16, 2023 to Friday February 24, 2023.
Nominations will take place at the Postville Inuit Community Government at 20 Kaipokok Drive.
There is a non-refundable fee of $25 to be paid during nomination.
Nominated candidates must not be in arrears with the Postville Inuit Community Government.
Nominations shall be in writing and state the name and residence of the candidate and shall be signed by the proposer and seconder, both of whom shall be present together with the candidate who shall sign also signifying his or her acceptance of the nomination.
The qualifications of a candidate for election for the community member are as follows:
– An Inuk beneficiary
– Canadian Citizen of the full age of 19 years
– Ordinarily resident of the community for at least 2 months prior to the date set for the nomination period
– Unless he or she is disqualified in terms of subsection 5 of the elections act
The election if require will take place on Tuesday March 21, 2023 between 8am to 8pm at the Recreation Hall.
