Postville, Rigolet, and Hopedale’s DHSD Events

Today Wednesday, September 20th they are holding the first teen night for grades 7-12 with a meal and on Thursday, September 21st there is a Take Back the Night event, with a fire pit and a candle light vigil starting 6:30pm.

On Saturday, September 23rd there is a children’s day the times are yet to be determined, along with a senior’s dinner for 65+ at 12pm.

We spoke with Jenifer Jacque Poole, theMental Health Worker. The National Truth and Reconciliation Day will be on Thursday, September 28th from 4-7pm located at the Postmill lumber road in the tent.

Supper will be served of caribou soup, chilli, bread and rolls, and cake. There will be events of Scavenger hunt, painting, and a sign making to quote a memory of loved ones or anything on the Truth and Reconciliation Day, they will also have an educational piece they will show for this day, with the Kullik and a prayer, along with traditional music, even a parashoot to try, and prizes to be won.

In Rigolet we spoke with Lisa Palliser Bennett, the Community Health Worker with DHSD.Today, September 20th there is a men’s cooking event for ages 19+ at 6pm, they will cook a meal of salmon, veggies, salads and dessert.

On Thursday, September 21st there is the seniors merchandise bingo for senior’s ages 55+ located at the hall, and on Friday, September 22nd there is the diabetes dinner.

We also spoke with Ashley Abel, Community Health Worker with DHSD in Hopedale. Today, Wednesday September 20th there is a family program starting 5pm, Thursday, September 21st the fitness room is open for ages 16+ at 1:30pm, on Friday, September 22nd and Monday, September 25th there is joker rummy at 6:30pm, and on Tuesday, September 26th there is nacho making at 3:30pm.
