Nunatsiavut Governments Archaeology Department is accepting applications to visit the Rooms in St. John’s

The Nunatsiavut Governments Archaeology Department is accepting applications until Monday October 16th, 2023 for an opportunity to visit the Rooms in St. John’s.

This opportunity is for anyone who has an interest in Museum Studies, Nunatsiavut History and 3D Scanning.

This is an all expense paid event to explore in all three areas.

There will be a half day workshop that will include: a tour of the Rooms, have a behind scenes chance to view the museum vaults and its collection, to get an introduction to museum exhibits and the care and safekeeping of collections, help select interesting items from Nunatsiavut in the museum’s collection for 3D scanning, and to learn the basics of digitizing museum objects with a 3D scanner and try scanning yourself.

You’ll be covered for travel to and within St. John’s, accommodations and per diems for meals, and an honorarium of $200 per day.

This trip will take place in November or early December, with the days at the rooms and travel for a total of about seven to nine days, the final dates still have to be determined.

Any Nunatsiavut beneficiary, 18 years and older may apply.

You can send a short email to archeology@nunatsiavut.com telling them about yourself and why you want to be involved in the project.
