The OKalâKatiget Radio called the community freezers in the Nunatsiavut communities to see what they have in their community.
For Nain, there are seal and char. The freezer is open all week this week and will be closed for Christmas Day on December 25 until December 27, January 1, and January 8, 2024.
In Hopedale, they have basic foods like flour, sugar, fruit, crackers and more. They are currently waiting for moose and char.
There’s char in the Makkovik freezer. For Christmas hours, the freezer is available all week until December 21st and will be back January 2.
The Postville community freezer will close on December 22, and will re-open on January 2. They only have char.
For Rigolet, they usually open on Thursdays, but they will open tomorrow. They have received an order of chicken legs, chicken thighs, beef, pork roast, and moose.
On Christmas, they will be giving out redberries and bakeapples. The freezer will be closing at noon on December 22, and will re-open on December 27.
