Elections for AngajukKât for Inuit Community Government’s on the north coast and Chairpersons for the Inuit Community Corporations in Upper Lake Melville were held on Tuesday September 9th.
In North West River, Trudy Mesher Barkman received 55 votes making her the new Chairperson for the Sivunivut Inuit Community Corporation.
In Hopedale, Jimmy Tuttauk is also the newly elected AngajukKâk for the Hopedale Inuit Community Government with 112 votes.
In Makkovik, Herb Jacque remains the AngajukKâk for his community by acclamation.
In Happy Valley Goose Bay/Mudlake, Gary Mitchell received 186 votes and is now the Chairperson for the NunaKatiget Inuit Community Corporation.
In total there were 3,632 eligible voters and 1,554 went out to vote.
