Coastal Canada Celebrations

Canada Day is coming up this Sunday July 1, 2019.

In Nain, the events start tomorrow, Saturday, June 29, 2019.

To start off Canada Day there will be a Coed Volleyball Tournament at 2pm at the Jeremias Sillett Community Centre.

On Sunday,June 30, from 1 pm to 8 pm a Texas Hold ‘Em will take place also at the JSCC and registration starts at 12:30pm.

At 6pm there will be a Canada Day softball Tournament at the sports field.

On July 1, Canada Day, to start off the day there will be a community breakfast at 8 am to 9:30 am at the JSCC.

Canada Day Photo Contest will go on and your photo’s can be emailed to recreationnain@nf.aibn.com, photos must be sent no later than 4 pm July 4.

A Fishing Contest starts at 10:30 am until 3 pm.

At 11am there will be a card board boat race and at 1 there will be the community parade starting at the airstrip.

1:30 there will be Canada Day cake decorating contest, games of chance for all, peddle boat rentals and family activities.

A free community BBQ will be at 4pm and from 7-9:30pm there will be community Dance and at the end of the night there will be fireworks.

To end of the celebrations off there will be a Giant Radio Bingo.
In Postville they start the day with a parade at the Kaipokok community centre at 2pm followed by games at the ball field.

There will be a bbq at the ball field and to end off the events there will be fireworks.

In Rigolet, they start their events with raising a flag and cake cutting at the net loft at 1pm.

There will be a parade to the rink then at the rink there will be relay races, face painting, photo booth and more.

At 2:30pm there will be a soccer game followed by a free community bbq and then to end off the events there will be darts, table tennis and 120 cardgame.

In Makkovik they start with a parade and head to Indian head to raise the Canadian flag.

Everyone then heads to the arena to play games for the whole family.

To end off their celebrations there will be fireworks at the 10:30pm.
