Nunatsiavut Government Planning to Review Uranium Legislation this Fall

The Nunatsiavut Government is planning to review its uranium legislation this fall.

Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Glen Sheppard, stated that he will present a motion to move forward with a plan to begin reviewing the legislation in a press release yesterday.

A moratorium on the working, production, mining and development of uranium on Labrador Inuit Lands has been in place since 2008.

The Nunatsiavut Government has been able to review the moratorium since March 31.

The department has been instructed to gather as much information as they can to ensure the assembly members are prepared to review the legislation.
