Research On Inuit Language And Tradition (Audio)

A research project is taking place for a period of two weeks in all the Nunatsiavut communities.

Tom Gordon, Professor of Music at MUN in St. John’s and Mark Turner, a Post Doctoral Fellow at MUN, is doing research on Inuit Language and Tradition.

They say there will be other people involved in the project.

Gordon and Turner says the other group include: Nunatsiavut Archeologist, Jamie Brake, and Alana Johns, a Professor of Linquistics at the University of Toronto.

They would like to see as many people as possible come to the open public meetings when they are in a community.

The goal of the project is to hear stories from Inuit of how their settlements were before and into today.

The group would also like to hear from Inuit who speak the Language.

We spoke with Tom Gordon and Mark Turner last Monday when they were in Nain.
