Zoar Human Remains Arriving in Nain Friday Evening (Audio)

The Inuit remains being repatriated to Zoar are scheduled to arrive in Nain Friday evening.

The remains of around 20 Inuit were removed from the former Moravian Community in 1927 by Chicago’s
Field Museum of Natural History.

Johannes Lampe, the Minister of Culture, Recreation, and Tourism for the Nunatsiavut Government, was in
Chicago to help return the remains.

The group was en route to Nunatsiavut Friday afternoon.

The remains are now here, I saw the RCMP with people from the Nunatsiavut Government…and others down at the airport putting the bins aboard the RCMP truck at around 8:10pm or 8:15pm. Then someone said they saw the remains in the storage bins being brought into the RCMP station.
