James Woodrow Charges Dismissed

The charges against James Woodrow have been dismissed.

Judge John Joy announced his decision during the provincial court circuit in Nain Thursday afternoon.

Judge Joy did not provide the reasoning behind his decision.

A written decision will be submitted to the court on July 29.

Woodrow was facing one assault charge and one charge of forcible confinement.

The charges stemmed from an incident involving a Nain woman, Audrey Nochasak, in May, 2009.

Woodrow was stationed in the community with the RCMP at the time.

    wow!

Not very surprising though. There goes what was left of the respect and trust of the RCMP

And are we all surprised? Yet another FAIL by the all mighty Provincial Court…well the Provincial Court for the Coast that is. Judge Joy and Judge English are way to soft. We need a new crop of Judges.

Too many times have the Judges failed to properly convict the guilty…of local or foreign.

I don’t think we can aim these frustrations at the police for what the outcome was, because it was the courts that decided that.

    Side Note,

Why hasn’t this made at least Provincial News, nothing on CBC or VOCM. Good job to the Ok Society for keeping up to date with this story and reporting it in a timely manner, wish more news broadcasters in this province kept up on things like this, its ok though there where two orange lobsters in St. John’s that needed their attention.
