Empty Shipping Containers a Cause of Frustration in Hopedale

It’s a busy time of year for retailers along the coast trying to get their supplies in for the winter months.

A large number of empty shipping containers left at the wharf in Hopedale have been a cause of frustration for retailers in the community.

Jerden Bennett is the Manager of Labrador Investments.

He says the M.V Astron arrived in Hopedale Tuesday morning.

The manager was waiting for hours to begin loading the 37 pallets on board the vessel for Labrador Investments.

Bennett says around 20 empty containers, along with other items on the wharf, have left the area very congested.

That congestion has been causing delays in offloading the freight bound for the community.

Bennett says the whole situation adds frustration to an already stressful time of year.
