Omatik Group Distributes Firewood to Elders

A group of volunteers braved the extremely cold temperatures on Thursday to gather fire wood for Nain elders.

Christina Hackett is one of the coordinators of the Omatik Substance and Anger Management group.

She says four volunteers gave their time and support to the cause.

They ventured out into the frigid temperatures on Thursday morning.

The volunteers travelled on three snowmobiles to Edward’s cove.

Hackett says they were able to gather two Kamutik loads of wood.

It was distributed to ten different elders within the community.

Hackett says she would like to thank everybody that donated their time and equipment to the effort.

She is inviting any other interested people in the community to join the Omatik Substance and Anger Management group or volunteer before their next planned trip.
