Racers Familiarizing Themselves with Cain’s Quest Route

Several of the racers from the north coast set to compete in next month’s Cain’s Quest Snowmobile Endurance Race are familiarizing themselves with the planned rout of the race this week.

Racers from Makkovik, Hopedale, Natuashish and Happy Valley-Goose Bay are currently travelling the proposed route of the race.

They are doing so to prepare for the big event which begins in less than three weeks on March 17.

The community of Nain is busy preparing for the race as well.

Nain will serves as one of three mandatory layovers for Cain’s Quest.

A local volunteer committee met at the Nain Inuit Community Government office on Monday evening.

They’re looking for a number of volunteers who are needed to help with the 10-hour layover.

Volunteers needed include people to serve as security personnel at the checkpoint as well as drivers to take the racers to and from the location.

Anybody interested in volunteering their time is asked to contact the NICG office.
