MHA Edmunds Raises Issue of High Food Costs (Audio)

It’s an issue that’s always existed on the north coast of Labrador: The high cost of food.

MHA Randy Edmunds brought the issue to the attention of the provincial government in St. John’s this week.

The representative for the Torngat Mountains district says the price paid for essential food items in this region is nothing short of outrageous.

MHA Edmunds also raised the concern of the high costs associated with people harvesting traditional foods on the land.

He’s calling on the government to conduct a full investigation into the federal government’s Nutrition North program in this region to ensure that it’s benefiting consumers.
