New Commercial Fishery Policy for Nunatsiavut

Nunatsiavut Government has issued it’s fishing quotas for the summer.

Carl Mclean is the Deputy Minister of Lands and natural resources.

He says from the fishing quota there has been an increase of 15% from the cutback last year.

Mclean says the Executive Council also approved of a new commercial fishery policy for beneficiaries last spring.

He says the aim of the policy is to grow the commercial fishery in Nunatsiavut to get maximum benefits to Nunatsiavut and the communities.
