Alcohol Fuelled Crash Causes Power Outage in Nain (Pictures)

Alcohol was a factor in an early morning accident in Nain that has sent one person to hospital.

An SUV crashed into a power pole at approximately 2:00 am and ended up on its side.

There were 3 occupants in the vehicle.

Two of the occupants fled the scene.

The third occupant, a 38 year old male, was pinned in the vehicle and had to be removed.

He is being transported to Goose Bay where he will be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

An investigation has revealed the driver was impaired by alcohol.

A charge of Refusing the Blood Demand is pending against the driver.

The accident also knocked out power to some homes and businesses on Middle Path Road.

Power has now been restored to some of the affected businesses and homes.
