NL Hydro to Fly in New Generator

The Nain Hydro plant is still serving the whole community with two units operating.

This was after one of the three engines broke down last month.

Marissa King is the Senior Communications Advisor for NL Hydro.

She says since we spoke with her last month, there have been a lot of developments.

King says they were talking about different ways to send out the old engine to Goose Bay for repairs.

Some options were to fly it out by plane or helicopter, and one was to send up an ice-breaker.

She says it is a different story today.

NL hydro has found a new engine for Nain.

King says that means they do not have to send out the old one for repairs.

They will fly in a new one by helicopter instead when it arrives in Goose Bay.

She says they are looking at possibly late January or early February for this to happen.
