The Traditional Girl’s Day Celebrations will be taking place in Nain on Wednesday, March 6, 2019.
Silpa Suarak is the Captain for Girls Day.
Suarak says there are 8 out of 14 girls who are eligible who will be having their day, and where the Nain Fire Hall is still under renovations, they are unsure where they will be having their day yet.
In order to have their day, the girls would need a red/pink church cap, a red/pink dress, a red/pink ribbon, a pair of seal skin boots, and a blazer.
So, anyone willing to lend out some dresses and/or some blazers, Suarak says that it would be greatly appreciated.
She added that they are still waiting on any donations from the stores.
She also adds that depending on whether the Community Food Security Coordinator, Shelley Dicker is in town, they will be able to have her to help cook and celebrate their day at the Nigivik Center.
Their helpers will be Joshua Jack and Abele Ikkusek and are still looking for a Captain and some cooks.
They will meet up for breakfast at 7am, dinner for the girls at 12, dinner for parents at 3 when the girls are in church, the closing service will be at 5, and supper at 6.
The Church Services will be at 10am, 3pm, and 5pm.
The fee for first timers is $15, and for second timers it’s $25.
