Hopedale Lumber Jack Challenge

Hopedale will be holding its first Hopedale Lumber Jack Challenge.

McKinley Winters is the Team Leader with the Department of Health and Social Development.

He says this is a great way to offer more men’s programs within the community.

The deadline date to apply for this Lumber Jack Challenge is Friday July 5, 2019

Winters is hoping to get at least 20 to 30 men involved in this challenge.

The event takes place on July 13, during the challenge, a community BBQ will be held during the event for the public to come out and watch.

Each challenge will be recorded for points, points will be added up for best score.

Activities will include: axe throwing, bow sawing, and underhand chop fastest chain saw cut and log run.

Right now they are waiting for materials to come from Goose bay, materials were ordered from the Goose Bay Home Hardware.

All logs will be the same length 8×8.

He says there will be requirements for certain events, such as each participant must have the same size chainsaw.

He says right now they have a few men interested.

Activities will be located at the Nanuk Center.
