The Labrador Winter Games are being postponed until 2023.
Due to the potential spread of COVID-19 and the impact that could have on travel and the health of the athletes, the decision was made to delay the games.
The Minister Responsible for Labrador Affairs and Indigenous Affairs and Reconciliation, Lisa Dempster, and the Board of Directors for the games met in Happy Valley-Goose Bay to discuss the event last week.
The Board also met with Public Health to consider the logistics of hosting a large event during the pandemic.
The Labrador Winter Games are typically held every three years in Happy Valley-Goose Bay and were scheduled originally to take place in March 2022.
