Low water levels have been causing pressure problems with Hopedale’s water supply.
Wayne Piercy is Hopedale’s AngajukKak.
He says the water levels in the catchment they use for the town’s water supply are lower than usual.
The levels within the catchment rise as it gains water from rain and runoff.
Piercy says the levels are lower than usual because there wasn’t much rain last fall.
He says the levels usually do get low, but not this low.
Piercy says the HICG is planning on connecting another water supply to the catchment.
They will connect a pond that is further up the hill from the catchment using water lines.
The HICG is now waiting on the parts needed to connect the pond.
Piercy says the pond does contain enough water to fill the catchment to the levels needed to restore the pressure.
