Effective today, Monday, May 2, 2022, services traditionally offered through the Provincial Mental Health Crisis Line will now be provided by the 811 Health Line.
Individuals in need of crisis response or mental health and addictions support can simply dial 811, day or night, to speak with a registered nurse who is a trained crisis intervener.
This service transition will enhance capacity to assist individuals in real time during a crisis, with a three-digit number already well known to residents and easier to recall when needed.
For a period of time, and to ensure a seamless service transition, residents who call the existing Provincial Mental Health Crisis Line will be automatically transferred to the 811 Health Line for support but are encouraged to call 811 directly.
Today’s announcement is one of a number of mental health and addictions service enhancements and initiatives expected in the coming weeks.
