Memorial University (MUN) is going back to in-person convocation ceremonies this spring.
After a 3-year break, due to the pandemic, MUN will return in May and June with 17 sessions in St. John’s and Corner Brook.
As of 2,700 students will graduate this spring and Memorial will also recognize 11 people for their leadership in culture, academic and social spheres with the awarding of honorary degrees.
Convocation takes place Corner Brook Civic Centre on May 19 and at the St. John’s Arts and Culture Centre from May 30 to June 3.
Among the Honorary Degree recipients is Labradors own Education Historian, and Geneology Expert, Patricia Way.
Dr. Patty Way was born in Labrador and has been a significant educator and historian for more then 50 years. Establishing the groundwork for comprehensive genealogies for many all over Labrador.
Ms. Way has been involved in many committees, including Smart Labrador, development associations and zonal boards. Them days has published much of her work in their historical quarterly, has edited several books on Labrador and has been acknowledged as a Labradorian of Distinction.
