The Government of Canada wants to hear from families of murdered and missing indigenous women and girls about what they want a national inquiry to accomplish.
To this end, engagement sessions are being held across the country.
The sessions will be limited to survivors, loved ones and family members and their supporters, and not open to the public.
The sessions are facilitated in a comfortable and safe forum allowing participates to tell their stories and to provide input on the needs of families and their communities.
The department of indigenous and northern affairs will pay for two family members and two supporters for each family to attend a session.
The Nunatsiavut Government, with the funding provided by Health Canada, is providing cultural and health supports at each of the sessions.
The next sessions will be held in Toronto from February 4-5 and in Ottawa from February 14-15, 2016.
The Nunatsiavut Government and Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami will also facilitate a session in Happy Valley- Goose Bay at a date to be determined.
