Homeowners from across Canada turned off their lights last night in honour of Burton Winters.
Nearly 5, 000 Canadians committed to an ‘Hour of Power’ last night.
The event coordinators asked people to turn off all of their lights for 60-minutes in honour of the 14-year-old who lost his life under a dark Labrador sky.
People from as far as Alberta to right here in Nunatsiavut committed to turning their lights off.
There was even one person who posted to the Facebook event from California, U.S.A, committing to turn their lights out.
The ‘Hour of Power’ was also used to demonstrate the need for a permanent Search and Rescue Unit for Newfoundland and Labrador.
