NG Host Press Conference On Methly Mercury From Muskrat Falls

The Nunatsiavut Government will hold a news conference on Monday, April 18 to release the Lake Melville Scientific Report.

The report will include a Harvard University study on the human health risks associated with methyl mercury exposure from the Muskrat Falls hydroelectric project.

It will be at the Sheraton Hotel Newfoundland (Garrison Room) at 115 Cavendish Square, in St. John’s at 10:30 am.

A technical briefing will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 am for interested media.

Nunatsiavut President Sarah Leo will be joined by mercury researcher Dr. Elsie Sunderland, the Thomas D. Cabot Associate Professor of Environmental Science and Engineering and Applied Science, and the academic program lead, Dr. Trevor Bell, Professor of Geography with Memorial University.

Nunatsiavut Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Darryl Shiwak, and the Nunatsiavut Government’s Director of Environment, Tom Sheldon, will also attend the news conference.
