The Nunatsiavut Government put out a press release this morning pertaining to the cleaning activities under way at the Illusuak.
Residents of Nain can expect increased activity at the Illusuak Cultural Center in the weeks and months ahead.
As efforts get under way to clean the facility after its fire suppressant system unexpectedly engaged on July 17th, 2023.
The investigation into the cause and circumstances of the incident is still ongoing.
The Nunatsiavut Government regrets any inconveniences caused by the temporary closure, and appreciates the cooperation and understanding of the public as work continues to restore the facility.
It is hoped that the facility will reopen before the 2024 summer season
