Partnership Agreement with Regional Health Authority Will Result in More Scheduled Medical Flights for Nunatsiavut

The Nunatsiavut Government will partner with Labrador-Grenfell Regional Health Authority (LGH) in an effort to ensure essential health-care services are more readily available to all residents of the five Labrador Inuit communities.

Through funding from the Nunatsiavut Government’s COVID-19 Indigenous Community Support Fund allocations, LGH will provide two extra scheduled medical flights per week on a temporary basis up until at least December 31 of this year, with the possibility of extending to March 31, 2022.

“These extra flights will result in less time for people having to be away from their home communities and families, and will also reduce costs for accommodations, which are difficult to secure during the COVID-19 pandemic,” notes Nunatsiavut President Johannes Lampe.

The additional flights will run on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
