Pauktuutit, Inuit Women of Canada thanks the Nunavut Premier, P.J. AAgeeajok and Minister, Martha Nakashuk for joining Pauktuutit board member, Looee Mike at their opening reception last Wednesday, and to everyone who attended the unveiling of the Red Amautiit Project.
The installation at the Legislative Assembly of Nunavut is the first showing commemorative project.
This work honors the lives and legacies of Missing, Murdered and Inuit Women and Girls and gender-diverse Inuit and is a call to action in raising awareness of the ongoing violence they experienced.
Members of the public are welcome to learn more about the project and view the amautiit in the foyer of the Legislative during regular business hours during the Spring Sitting until June 1.
Going forward, the installation will travel across the country with displays in each region.
