Some more details came out yesterday for parents and guardians should a child fall ill in the coming school year.
Parents have been asking what will happen if their child gets sick, as many children often do once school starts.
Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Janice Fitzgerald, outlined the procedure at yesterday’s provincial COVID-19 update.
She said if a child gets sick, they will be immediately isolated from other students and staff, and parents will be contacted to pick them up. Once at home, 811 should be called for appropriate follow-up.
A COVID-19 test will be administered if it is deemed necessary and, if it is positive, the student will have to self isolate at home until symptoms are resolved.
